Getting things done in Danang

We are helping to get short courses in speech therapy and professional development happening at Danang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy (DUMTP), to support existing health professionals who treat people with communication and swallowing disorders, and to provide assistance in getting a 2-year graduate training course in speech therapy up and running.

Trinh Foundation now have a memorandum of understanding to provide pilot short courses in the meantime, and to help provide resources in the Rehabilitation Department. We are also helping to provide Australian volunteer lecturers and clinicians, as well as interpreter training.

An exciting development is the appointment of a Trinh Foundation-supported clinician, Ms Kate Margetson, to provide assistance part time, to help achieve these goals.

We have also assisted Danang University now to sponsor an Australian Volunteer International (AVI) speech therapist who can coordinate these developments for two years full time, to really get things up and running in Danang.
