Helping in Hue

In the beautiful city and region of Hue in Vietnam, there are just 2 speech therapists to service a regional population of 13 million people.

At the Office of Genetic Counselling and Disabled Children (OGCDC) at Hue University, two speech therapists are working hard to develop sustainable models of practice and professional development plans.

The speech therapists, graduates of the first courses from UPNT in HCMC, are Ms Na and Ms Van Anh. Trinh Foundation provided them with scholarships during their studies in HCMC, without which they would not have been able to participate.

Trinh Foundation Australia has a memorandum of understanding with the Office of Genetic Counselling, now extended until 2018, to provide ongoing mentoring and support to the graduates, and to assist OGCDC to structure and workable and sustainable speech therapy service delivery model, and to meet the critical need for educational materials and clinical resources.
