Sarah Day had the opportunity to engage with Vietnamese media during the afternoon of International Volunteer Day at the Australian Embassy in Ha Noi. She was chosen, along with two of her Australian Volunteer colleagues, to represent the program. Sarah was able to share with 8 media outlets about the SALT projects currently being implemented across Vietnam. Media asked Sarah to define “speech therapy” and how it relates to people in Vietnam. They were interested in the approach taken by speech therapists to engage with people with disabilities. Sarah was thrilled to have the opportunity to raise awareness about SALT and the importance of the role of SLTs in Vietnam. Sarah took the opportunity to encourage families to engage in the development of their children, and work closely with their SLT to achieve the goals they set for their child. Volunteers also had the opportunity to discuss about their personal experiences as volunteers and how the opportunity has impacted them.
