Scientific Conference for Local Graduates
On 4 May, UPNT celebrated the incredible work of Speech Therapists across Vietnam, by hosting a scientific conference for local graduates to present about their research projects or resource development happening in their local workplaces.
With well over 100 attendees, including the current student cohort and TFA volunteering clinical educators in attendance, the room was full of support and admiration for the work of local speech therapists.
Among the presenters, Mr Dien Le, who is currently studying his Masters at The University of Newcastle under Dr Sally Hewat, Co-Director of TFA. He flew back to HCMC to present on the development of his Aphasia Assessment Tool for Vietnamese speakers. Ms Xuan, a local speech therapist supporting the research of Ms Ben Pham and Dr Sharynne McLeod at the University of Sydney, presented on creating the Vietnamese Speech Assessment for Vietnamese speech therapists. There were 7 other presenters in total, including AVID volunteer Sarah Day who presented the keynote speech on evidence-based practice in early intervention settings across Australia: collaborative practice in practise. Mr Dien, Ms Sarah Day and Professor Dung Nguyen facilitated a post-presentation discussion with audience members focusing on making collaborative practice a reality across Vietnam.
TFA volunteer clinical supervisors, TFA interpreters, Mr Dien, Ms Sarah Day and Professor Dung Nguyen celebrated the success of the event together during a lunchtime event at UPNT.
