On 26 September TFA Directors Sue Woodward and Bronwyn Coop were delighted to attend the opening of the Bachelor of Rehabilitation Techniques with Specialization in Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy (DUMTP) in Da Nang. This is a wonderful milestone and the achievement of one of our core goals working with our partners in Vietnam.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of USAID, VietHealth, MCNV, senior staff at DUMTP, the Australian Deputy Consul-General, Ms Petrina Lawson, and A/Prof Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung (formerly of our partner University of Medicine Pham Ngoc Thach), who has been a longstanding advocate and pioneer of Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) in Vietnam. Our Directors outlined TFA’s history of SALT development in Vietnam over the past 11 years and our ongoing support for the future as an increasing number of Vietnamese Speech Language Therapists graduate and establish services and further training courses throughout Vietnam.
AVI volunteers Ms Sarah Day and Ms Jemma Thompson presented the 15 new students with TFA mugs and all participants wished the students every success in their studies and as future leaders of SALT in Vietnam.
Our database contains the locations of over 33 speech therapists and clinics located in Vietnam.
