Kylie Gough is a long-time TFA supporter and volunteer. Most recently she has been involved in the TFA online mentoring program for two years now, acting as a mentor to Vietnamese speech therapists looking to continue to learn and develop their knowledge and skills. Kylie writes:
“I have had the pleasure of being involved in the “Beyond Borders Mentoring Program” for 2 years. While the mentoring is not without challenges, it is extremely rewarding to see the growth in the Speech Pathologist as we work through their goals and apply their learning to cases. I am passionate about working in a family centred approach and try to develop an understanding of this approach into each session with my mentees. I was fortunate to receive a research “gift” to spend on therapy equipment. I have offered to donate this to Trinh Foundation to use to purchase resources that will be used more widely to support Speech Pathology in Vietnam.”
Kylie’s gift will be used by TFA to make printed versions of their soon to be released Clinical Placement Manual (CPM). The CPM comes in two versions and was specifically developed by volunteers for Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy Bachelor SALT program and University of Medicine and Pharmacy (HCMC) Master SALT program. The CPM will be used to guide TFA volunteer clinical educators and SALT students as they work through clinical placements together.
