Partnership Building Hospital Roadtrip in Da Nang

Partnership Building Hospital

With the pilot Bachelor of Rehabilitation (Speech Pathology) due to open in just a few months (September 2018) at Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy, the planning for student clinical placements really comes into focus.

The University expects to invite a cohort of 25 students from their intake for the Bachelor of Rehabilitation, into the Speech Pathology training program.

Students will spend their first year enrolled as general Rehabilitation students and can chose to enter the Speech Pathology stream in September 2019 if they wish.

Recently, Ms Sarah Day on a volunteer assignment at the University via the Australian Volunteers Program, along with Dr Cao Bich Thuy, Head of Rehabilitation Department at the University, and TFA interpreter Ms An, completed a Da Nang Hospital ‘roadtrip’.

They visited a number of departments across a range of city hospitals, where they met with Heads of Departments to discuss the initiation of partnerships with Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy and TFA.

These hospitals, along with other special needs educational facilities, will host the first cohort of Bachelor of Speech Pathology students in their five clinical placements within the 4-year course.

TFA will be responsible for organising volunteer Clinical Supervisors for each of these clinical placements across the course.

TFA would like to sincerely thank each of the departments at each hospital for their enthusiasm in offering support to the future students of Speech Pathology.

TFA looks forward to continuing to collaborate with you in supporting the development of Speech Pathology into the future.
