Graduation of the First BSALT Students at Hai Duong Medical Technical University — August 8, 2025

On August 8, 2025, Hai Duong Medical Technical University (HMTU) celebrated the graduation of over 600 students across many different fields — including the very first group of Bachelor of Speech-Language Therapy (BSALT) graduates in northern Vietnam.

TFA Director, Megan Nevell, who previously volunteered in Vietnam as a Clinical Educator, was truly honoured to be there and share in this special moment. These 16 graduates represent a huge milestone for speech therapy becoming a recognized and valued profession here in Vietnam.

The BSALT program at HMTU began in September 2021 with foundational courses, adding specialist speech therapy subjects in 2023. It combines classroom and online learning with hands-on hospital placements, giving students real-world experience to meet the growing need for speech therapists across the country.

A big thanks to our partners MCNV, HMTU, and all the local and international speech therapy experts, lecturers, mentors, interpreters, and especially the graduates — for their dedication, passion, and hard work over the years. TFA is proud to have supported this achievement through technical advice, overseas lecturers, and clinical supervision, and looks forward to helping speech therapy services continue to grow in Vietnam. 🎓
